The gaines Family pictures - a family afternoon frozen in time
It’s been a couple of years since I last captured the Gaines family. I photographed Allie and Mason’s wedding photos and even their engagement photos the year before. I also documented Emery’s newborn session and their family photos when she was just a little tot. So when Allie reached out knowing it was time to update their family photos, I was thrilled. She contacted me early this year to snag that perfect fall date for the cozy autumn vibes, and boy, am I glad she did.
We started chatting details the week before their session. Allie sent me some inspiration photos she found online, and I loved that. It helps me visualize exactly what my clients are drawn to and really gets my creative wheels turning. I know not every photographer loves when clients share Pinterest boards, but I am all for it. I’m a very visual learner, so seeing the mood and energy my clients want is so important to me. If clients don’t know what they want, it’s easy to default to standing and smiling, but honestly, I’m over the “stand and smile.” I’m over boring family photos and limiting creativity.
This session genuinely reignited my excitement for family photography, which, if I’m being honest, isn’t always at the top of my list of favorites to shoot. But if every family session looked and felt like this one, I’d be so happy. And when I say “look like this,” I don’t mean the family structure or the outfits. I mean deep, meaningful connection. Playful, joyful moments. Raw emotion. What your family truly looks like right now.
So if this sounds like your vibe, reach out. I know I can deliver family photos you’ll truly never forget. It’s easy to get swept up in the busyness of everyday life, especially with kids, but this is the season you’ll want to remember forever. Not just autumn. Not just the tantrums and the snuggles. But parenthood in every beautiful, fleeting stage.
Above is a few of my favorites from the session, but below is the full session. This is what you can expect from a gallery that’s an hour long. I think more and more people are going for mini sessions, and those are also great options, but if you truly want to be able to play & enjoy the moment during your session, a full session is the way to go.
If you made it this far, please know I love you.
